Gandhi King Literary Society at KC International School

Education is the key to uniting nations, bringing human beings closely together. In many parts of the world, civil society suffers because of situations of violent conflicts and war. It is important to recognise the crucial role of education in contributing to building a culture of peace and condemning instances in which education is undermined in order to attack democracy and tolerance.
Education is a key tool in combating poverty, in promoting peace, social justice, human rights, democracy, cultural diversity and environmental awareness. Education for peace implies an active concept of peace through values, life skills and knowledge in a spirit of equality, respect, empathy, understanding and mutual appreciation among individuals, groups and nations.
With a view to promote peace among its students Gandhi King Literary Society was established at KC International School, Jammu on 30th May 2016 in Co-ordination with the Gandhi Peace Foundation, Jammu Chapter. The Installation ceremony started with the lighting of the lamp by the respected dignitaries present on the occasion.

The oath for the peace was delivered to the members of the society by the principal of the school, Ms Maya Mishra .PraguniGoel, Samarthya Singh, President a student of Grade XII spoke about the main purpose with which the society was established. Vice President of the society, a student of Grade XII announced the programmes which the society would conduct during the year to promote peace and harmony. A welcome song and a few other programmes were presented on the occasion. Speaking on the occasion Ms Maya Mishra stressed upon the importance of peace and harmony in our lives. The programme concluded by a vote of thanks given by Ms Maya Mishra.
