Panel Discussion on National Water Mission




“Water, water, everywhere, nor any drop to drink” quoting from the very famous and the longest major poem- The Rime of the Ancient Mariner by English poet Samuel Taylor Coleridge clearly depicts the importance of water. Be it science, fiction, drama or mythological texts water has been a significant element to sustain life and civilization.

In view of the current global crisis and prevailing COVID-19 pandemic the Administration of KC International School in collaboration with Govt. of India today organized a panel discussion on national water mission. The aim of this discussion was to sensitize the students regarding the emerging global crisis and what impact it holds on the life of people across the world. The main motive behind this open discussion was to trigger the innovative minds of the students to come up with innovative ideas and their perception regarding water crisis and ways to deal with it.

This panel discussion was organised amidst the “Speak Up Your Heart out Session” an initiative by KC International School where in students are provided a forum to present their views openly so that they develop an intellect, serious understanding about the challenges outside the world of books.

National Water Mission is an Initiative by Govt. of India to save water exploitation in India with the following concerns:

1. Less ground water
2. Increasing impurities in drinking water
3. Tremendous changes in climate
4. Exploitation of natural resources

Many students from class 9th to 12th along with their class teachers participated presented their views in this regards which were appreciated by the teachers and students.

Students showed a keen interest towards the issue and came up with some valuable points like rain water harvesting, efficient industrial effluent treatment system, drip irrigation system, changing daily habits like use of bucket instead of shower, use of kitchen water for gardening, proper closure of taps,etc.

The students were provided with valuable data and material along with links of website for clear and conceptual understanding of water crisis and associated problems. Besides they were enlightened with the current Govt. strategies and mitigations in this regards.

The discussion was concluded with an affirmative mind and approach to maximise the utility of available resources with us and to come out with alternatives and innovations for a sustainable healthy and beautiful life ahead.

Principal Ms. Anupama Sinha and Dean Academics Ms. Arti Sharma appreciated the children’s participation and hoped that they would actively participate in such programs.
