KCIS conducted survey on Bhagatpur Village on International Literacy Day - Event Gallery

The students of KCIS conducted a literacy survey in Bhagatpur village which they have adopted. A team of two teachers and 10 students visited Bhagatpur village. The KCites interacted with the students of Bhagatpur Primary School. They were a part of the team when midday meal was served to the children. The students interacted, played and danced with the children. Then they conducted a survey on literacy among the villagers. They came up with the below mentioned data:

Approximate percentage of Illiterate members-70%.Most of the adults are educated only until grade IV or V.Only 40%houses have toilets.Disposal of household waste-out in the open. There are no dustbins.

Wake up India! This is the practical on the spot data. We need to wake up. A lot of work has to be done apart from turning India into Digital India.

KCITES ACTION PLAN-To run adult education classes in the village to raise the level of literacy.

The students were led by MsSavita Sharma and Ms Emily Phillips, Teaching Assistant from the United Kingdom.

The programme was conducted under the aegis of Gandhi King Literary Society which works under the banner of Gandhi Peace Foundation Jammu, which is coordinated by Dr. SeemaRohmetra who is the local coordinator Jammu.

Principal, Mrs Maya Mishra appreciated the efforts taken by the students and the teachers.
